7 weeks - 3445 followers

End of week 7 and we stand at 3445 followers.

So that is over 17% of the way to the target in 13.4% of the time allowed - we are therefore still ahead of target!

This week we have added 409 followers, giving a rate of 58 per day.  This is slightly abovr my daily gain of 56 required to reach the target.  We are now back heading in the right direction!

The 5000 following limit

Twitter imposes a 5000 following limit on accounts that have under 5000 followers.  I have found in the last week that I have reached this limit and have therefore been restricted from following further accounts.

To get around this I have been using the website www.whounfollowedme.org to manage the accounts I have followed that have not followed back.  I have then gone through these and periodically unfollowed them, thus allowing me to further follow accounts.

This has been a bit of a hassle but has been needed to carry on.

6 weeks in - over 3000 followers

End of week 6 and we stand at 3036 followers.

So that is over 15% of the way to the target in 11.5% of the time allowed - we are therefore still ahead of target!

This week we have added 300 followers, giving a rate of 42 per day.  This is below my daily gain of 56 required to reach the goal.  Clearly I am going to have to address this decline!

End of week 5 - 2653 followers

End of week 5 and we stand at 2653 followers.

So that is over 13% of the way to the target in just over 10% of the time allowed - we are therefore still ahead of target!

This week I have plotted a graph of followers over the 5 week period:

Here we can see that week 1 to week 2 saw the fastest growth and the last week the growth has tailed off a bit.

This week we have added 343 followers, giving a rate of 49 per day.  This is below my daily gain of 56 required to reach the goal.  Clearly I am going to have to step up my efforts in the coming weeks!

Four weeks - still ahead of target!

Four weeks - still ahead of target!

Four weeks into my challenge to obtain 20,000 followers on Twitter within a year, and I am ahead of target.



So as can be seen from the screenshot, I am currently standing at 2310 followers.  Last week this figure was 1695, so that is a gain of 615 over the last 7 days.
This is an average gain of 87 per day.  Still above the target figure of 56 required to reach the target.

Reduction in follow rate

Week 2's average daily follow rate was 101 per day, so it is disappointing that week 4 has seen a 16% reduction from the peak!
The daily new follow graph also shows a similar trend:

The figures nearly the beginning of the week were good, but tailed off towards the end of the week.

Also the totals here amount to around 1,000 new followers but the net gain was 615, so clearly I have a problem with churn!

I need to measure this and produce some engaging content to stem this.
